Une tempête a ravagé le toit de notre école, ce qui nous a demandé une intervention pour la réparation. 

A storm destroyed the roof of our school, which asked  our intervention to repair.

 

 Notre Président a été sur place pour y vérifier si tout est conforme à nos investissement, voici son rapport.

RAPPORT DU VOYAGE DE L'Abbé ALAIN (Président de F.D) AU CONGO

(RDC)DU 12 AOUT AU 1er SEPTEMBRE 2014. 
TRAVEL REPORT OF ALAIN Abbot (President FD) to CONGO (DRC)
from AUGUST 12 till 1 September 2014. 

Mon voyage s'est bien passé. Malheureusement, je suis rentré en Belgique plus tôt que prévu : le 2 septembre au lieu du 9 septembre.

La cause : le virus Ebola. J'ai eu peur parce que la ville de Kikwit a été victime du virus Ebola en 1994. Alors, il y a eu une panique terrible lorsqu'on a appris que le Congo et en particulier la région de l’Équateur était déjà touchée par le virus. Deux autres faits ont quelque peu biaisé ma mission et mon séjour : d'abord, les batteries de mes appareils (photographique et téléphonique) ont été brûlées à cause d'une mauvaise alimentation électrique, à Kinshasa. Ensuite, j'avais attrapé une  diarrhée en arrivant à Kikwit.

 

My trip went well. Unfortunately, I returned to Belgium ahead of schedule: Sept. 2 instead of September 9. The cause: the Ebola virus. I was afraid because the city of Kikwit was a victim of the Ebola virus in 1994. Then there was a terrible panic when it was learned that the Congo and in particular the region of Ecuador was already affected by the virus. Two other facts are somewhat skewed my mission and my stay : first, the batteries of my devices (photographic and telephone) were burned because of a faulty powersupply in Kinshasa. Then I caught diarrhea arriving in Kikwit.

 

Par rapport à ma mission :

1 - J'ai constaté que l'école est bien entretenue : les bâtiments et les matériels sont en bon état. Je n'ai pas rencontré les enfants car ils étaient en vacances.

2 - Il y a 63 lapins, 4 étangs à NDEMBO et 1 étang à WAMBA. 

3 - La boutique Saint Jean (la cantine) est vide : aucune marchandise.

4 - Le congélateur, groupe électrogène, radio-cassette, ventilateur sont encore en bon état.

 

Compared to my mission:

1 - I found that the school is well maintained: buildings and equipment are in good condition. I have not met the children as they were on vacation.

2 - There are 63 rabbits, 4 ponds in Ndembo and 1 pond in WAMBA.

3 - St. John shop (canteen) is empty: no goods.

4 - Freezer, generator, radio-cassette, fans are still in good condition.

 

Quelques mesures et dispositions pratiques prises sur place :

J'ai créé une plate forme à Kikwit et je leur ai donné la mission d'analyser entre autres les opportunités et les réussites d'une activité commerciale à Lusanga. J'ai confié la charge de cette recherche et étude à monsieur Hervé KAHUNGU. La plate forme aura comme autre mission de superviser et de contrôler les activités de F.D à Lusanga. Jacques Mawete reste notre consultant et il est membre de la plate forme. Avec la création de cette nouvelle plate forme, nous aurons ainsi des rapports assez diversifiés pas uniquement celui de Jacques. Parmi les membres de la plate forme il y a Monsieur Serge Ngunza (le directeur de Simba Mosala au Congo).

 

Some practical measures and arrangements made ​​locally :

1 - Je n'ai pas eu de nouvelle de l'école maternelle de KASA (succursale de Lusanga). L'institutrice était en vacances à Kinshasa.

2 - L'abbé Fabien KIPELA (Président de F.D) n'est plus curé à Lusanga. Il est nommé Recteur du Petit Séminaire de Kinzambi. C'est l'abbé Gaby KWOLO qui le remplace.

3 - L'abbé Fabien va continuer à être président de F.D et l'abbé Gaby, lui, pourrait être le trésorier, s'il acceptait. Parce que la soeur Olga KIMOLO n'est plus à Soa (ancienne trésorière), d'après les dernières nouvelles.

 

1 - I have not received any news of the kindergarten KASA (branch Lusanga). The teacher was on vacation in Kinshasa.

2 - Father Fabien KIPELA (President FD) is no longer pastor at Lusanga. He was appointed Rector of the Minor Seminary Kinzambi. It is Father Gaby KWOLO who replaced him.

3 - Father Fabien will continue to be president of FD and Father Gaby, he could be the treasurer, if he agreed. Because the sister Olga Kimolo is no longer at Soa (former Treasurer), according to the latest news.

 

N.B. Pour avoir les nouvelles de la rentrée scolaire 2014-2015: j'ai demandé à Jacques Mawete d'effectuer une visite à Lusanga et à KASA. Le 29 septembre, Madame Aline, la Directrice de l'école maternelle de Lusanga m'a téléphoné pour me dire qu'il y a 70 enfants inscrits dont 40 filles et 30 garçons. Et il y a encore des parents retardataires qui ont promis d'inscrire leurs enfants.

 

N.B. For the new school year of 2014-2015: I asked Jacques Mawete to make a visit to Lusanga and KASA. 

September 29, Madame Aline, the Director of the kindergarten Lusanga phoned me to tell me that there has 70 children enrolled, including 40 girls and 30 boys. 

And there are still stragglers parents whopromised to enroll their children.

 

Conclusion :

L'école de F.D à Lusanga fonctionne bien. J'attends le rapport de Jacques Mawete en ce qui concerne l'école de Kasa. Pour les activités économiques, nous allons attendre et voir l'évolution de l'élevage des lapins et des poissons. Pour le commerce en tant que tel, attendons le rapport de monsieur Hervé KAHUNGU. Pour l'avenir, F.D sera aidée par la plate forme locale. Mais cette dernière aura besoin d'être soutenue et formée afin d'être à la hauteur de sa mission. Car F.D aura comme nouvelle mission la formation à la bonne gestion des ressources locales notamment. On pourra élargir cette mission aux autres associations qui sont à Lusanga et à Kikwit.

 

Conclusion:

School F.D to Lusanga works well. I await the report of Jacques Mawete regarding school Kasa.For economic activities, we will wait and see the evolution of breeding rabbits and fish. For trade as such, are awaiting the report of Mr. Hervé Kahungu.For the future, FD will be assisted by the local platform. But it will need to be supported and trained to be worthy of its mission. For FD will be the new mission training in the proper management of local resources including. We can expand this mission to other associations that are Lusanga and Kikwit.

 

 

  

 

Un préau a été construit pour mettre les enfants à l'abri de la pluie et du soleil ainsi que l'acquisition d'étangs pour la pisciculture dont certains sont à l'entretien. Pour y arriver, seul une moto peu passer.

 

A courtyard was built to bring the children out of the rain and the sun and the acquisition of ponds for fish culture and some are yet to be maintained. To go there, only a motorcycle can pass.

 

  

LUSANGA AVANT 1960 - LUSANGA BEFORE 1960

Le village de Lusanga, se nommait Leverville avant 1960. Sa principale activité était la production d'huile de palme. Il y avait du travail pour tout le monde. La société Lever y a construit un hôpital, écoles, mis l'électricité, l'eau courante, des maisons et même un petit port pour transporter l'huile sur de longues distances. Après 1960, la société a connu de grosses difficultés pour obtenir les pièces de rechange pour leur charroi. Ce fut le déclin !!! Plus de charroi, cessation de production d'huile et fin de la société. Dès lors, le personnel licencié était livré à lui-même et pour survivre, c'est devenu la débrouille. Notre Président qui est originaire de ce village, a décidé de créer une asbl pour sauver ce qui peut encore l'être. C'est ainsi que Famille, Debout ! est née. Village Lusanga, was called Leverville before 1960. Its main activity was the production of palm oil. There was work for everyone. The company Lever built a hospital, schools, put electricity, running water, houses and even a small port to transport oil over long distances. After 1960, the company has experienced great difficulties to obtain  spare parts for their cartage. It was the decline !!!  No more cartage, cessation of oil production and the end of the society. Therefore redundant staff was delivered to himself and to survive, it became resourcefulness. Our President, who hails from the village, decided to create a non-profit to save what can still be. Ils ont fabriqué le matériel nécessaire à l'augmentation et à l'hygiène pour la fabrication de l'huile de palme.

On peut aller à la pêche en pirogue, faire du jardinage, ouvrir un petit commerce, aller chercher du bois pour cuisiner souvent à l'extérieur. Quand on n'a rien à faire, on peut aller au bar ou se promener en brousse. Les enfants de la rue ne vont pas à l'école, mais jouent et s'amusent comme ils peuvent avec ce qu'ils trouvent.

You can go fishing in dugout, gardening, open a small business, collect firewood for cooking outside often. When one has nothing to do, you can go to the bar or stroll in the bush. The street children do not go to school, but are playing and having fun as they can with what they find.
